Addendum — Support

Addendum (formerly Cairn) is a private, offline reflective journal for medical students. It runs entirely on your device, collects no data, and by default makes no network requests (optional iCloud sync, off by default, syncs only your already-encrypted journal through your own iCloud).

Common questions

I forgot my passphrase. Use the one-time recovery key shown when you created your journal — tap “Forgot passphrase?” on the lock screen and enter it. If you didn’t save your recovery key and don’t remember your passphrase, your journal cannot be recovered (that’s by design — no one, including us, can read it).

Where is my data? Only on your device, encrypted. Addendum has no account and no server — turn on Airplane Mode and it still works. See the Privacy Policy.

How do I move my journal to a new device? Settings → Back up creates an encrypted backup you can move via the Files app or a share sheet; on the new device, use Import backup.

How do I delete everything? Settings → Erase all data on this device. Because nothing is stored off-device, deleting the app (and any backups you made) removes your data entirely.

Is this really the code you published? Yes — and you can check. The app is one auditable file; Settings → Privacy you can verify shows the live no-network policy and walks you through comparing your copy’s checksum against the Release checksums page.
